FOX 9-1-1 Putt Out the Fire

To promote FOX’s hit show 9-1-1, Roadwerx was challenged with transforming the rotunda of the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas into an engaging activity for attendees of the 2018 Promax Station Summit. The result was “Putt Out the Fire”, a timed  9-1-1 themed mini-golf game played against an opponent. Most holes and obstacles were inspired by episodes from the show. This included transforming a classic loop de loop into a miniature roller coaster and creating a giant coiled albino Burmese python. The surrounding walls, graphically wrapped to look like city buildings, had ramps that led up to hinged windows for the balls to pass through. To tone down the serious, sensitive nature of the show, colorful, cartoon-like illustrations were used which kept the mood light. A massive, dimensional 9-1-1 logo sat on top of the wall, which could be seen by guests in all directions. After each sixty second match, the high scores were added to the custom leaderboard.

One of the highlights of the conference was a visit from the cast of 9-1-1. Not only did the cast play, but one cast member actually had the high score for the entire conference. Putt Out the Fire was an instant hit with attendees, as the game was as fun to watch as it was to play. Most attendees played the game, but numerous attendees came back multiple times to better their scores during the week. After the Las Vegas show, the game traveled around the country to over a dozen FOX Affiliate sponsored events.
