Roadwerx was given a very unique opportunity to take a previously non-existent space inside Arthur Ashe Stadium and turn it into the first private in-stadium sponsor hospitality suite, that could service 165 people. By working with the building architects and the USTA, Roadwerx ensured the structural build of the 3,760 sq. ft. space fit the client’s needs including storage, a working office, main entrance location, restrooms, etc. before taking over ownership of the raw space and beginning the interior design and custom build.
In trying to elevate the space to a more sophisticated and modern feel, Roadwerx expanded upon the brands traditional color palette, introducing navy blue, antique brass, and magenta accents to the otherwise very corporate style.
To ensure brand presence upon guest arrivals, a custom 7’ signature wall and quartz topped check in desk were built on the new exterior platform. To bring a unique and fresh element to the design, the signature wall showcased a dimensional relief logo made of live moss.
Upon entry through the main doors, ceramic wood tile, laid in a herringbone pattern, leads guests throughout the space, including to the focal point of the room, a custom 20’ bar with white quartz waterfall countertops. The sleek, impressive bar is backed by a towering floor-to-ceiling hexagonal feature wall. The hexagon panels, which were designed to take full advantage of the room’s 26’ ceiling height, were individually hand fabricated and finished over a 3 month production period. The hexagonal pattern is continued on both left and right sides as tone-on-tone relief art in the navy wall color. Antique brass urchin chandeliers are hung above the bar at varying heights to add drama and movement with the light reflecting from the mercury mirrors scattered through the hexagon pattern.
In addition to the main bar, two 12’ long food service bars with identical cascading waterfall countertops were constructed to provide ample space for catering. Each food service bar is backed by a group of recessed, lit niches, which display a unique array of florals and sculpture. Between the niches, elegant 10’ tall tapestries are hung from the wall and provide prominent branding viewable throughout the large space.
As the navy wall continues down the hall, it leads guests to the men’s and women’s restrooms where custom paneled partitions with brass hardware and imported European geometric sconces over the vanities complete the modern look. Beautiful, hand-crafted wallpapers adorn the opposing wall of each room, creating an unexpected, yet exquisite feature wall. As guests leave the restroom, they are met with a large neon wall installation displaying a quote from the client’s founder.
In keeping the guests needs at top of mind, a custom charging station outfitted with two beverage refrigerators was fabricated for them to use freely. The 24 cubbies provide sufficient charging opportunities for guests, while the continually stocked refrigerators provide easy grab-and-go refreshment as they exit the space and head to their seats.
